Bareskrim Menangkap 3 Tersangka Baru dalam Kasus Sindikat Judi Online Warga Negara China

Bareskrim Polri is currently delving deeper into the case of the online gambling syndicate SLOT82-78, which is controlled by Chinese nationals. In a recent development, three new suspects have been identified in the case. The suspects, identified as HAJ, CAS, and E, were announced by the Head of the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri) and the Deputy Chief of the Online Gambling Task Force, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, during a press conference at the National Police Headquarters on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

Police Crackdown on Online Gambling

Inspector General Asep highlighted the police’s commitment to uncovering online gambling activities, in line with the directives of the Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and the aspirations of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, particularly the seventh Asta Cita (Presidential Policy) focusing on strengthening political and legal reforms, as well as combating corruption, gambling, drugs, and smuggling.

Formation of Task Force

General Sigit instructed the Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department to establish a Task Force specifically aimed at combating online gambling. This directive has been cascaded down to the various police levels, including the National Police Headquarters and regional police departments, to take action against all forms of online gambling practices.

Roles of the Suspects

• HAJ: Allegedly involved in setting up companies, such as PT AJT and PT MLT, to manage deposits and withdrawals for online gamblers. HAJ also coordinated the appointment of directors and commissioners from other financial service companies for the operation of the SLOT82-78 site.

• CAS and E: CAS acted as the director of PT OT, with E serving as the commissioner. PT OT was established as a financial services company specifically for the SLOT82-78 site.

Hunt for Additional Suspects

The investigation also identified two individuals, IJ and DX (alias MA), as suspects who are currently listed as wanted persons (DPO). IJ, the manager of PT QDT, was allegedly involved in facilitating online payment transactions for the SLOT82-78 site. DX, a Chinese national, acted as a coordinator instructing HAJ to establish financial service companies for the online gambling site in Indonesia.

Efforts are underway to apprehend these two individuals, as they remain at large.

Previous Arrests

Previously, seven suspects, including individuals with roles such as directors, chief operating officers, and finance managers of payment service providers, were arrested in connection with the syndicate’s operations.

The suspects face charges under various articles of Indonesian laws, including those related to electronic transactions, money laundering, and online gambling offenses, with a maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment.
